Shapes are simple and bold. The significance is on the glaze, where several different effects are created. Crystalline glaze possesses unique aesthetic qualities. It resembles sprouting seeds, free-flowing and spreading. The effects on the surface are remarkably natural and appear without any deliberate arrangement. Achieving such distinct effects requires great patience, along with the formulation of glazes and firing processes. The cooling time in the kiln is when the crystals begin to form.

Set of 24 dark stained alder runes, burned with the Elder Futhark runic alphabet, with a solid wood hand turned round box featuring the Helm of Awe on top & the runic alphabet around the outside.
Runes measure just under 3/4 inch, and the box is 3.30″ in diameter x 1.7″tall. This box is made of one solid piece of wood – not a mass produced, glued together one from the craft store.
