Nicole Helen Brunner is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Mountaindale, NY. Initially trained as a painter Nicole’s artistic interests have evolved over time and she has found a deep passion for pottery and mixed media.
With a unique perspective when it comes to pottery, Nicole considers functional objects such as mugs as a form of fine art. To her, a mug is not just a functional item for drinking, but also a medium for customers to own and interact with an art piece, which is often discouraged in the traditional art world. Nicole believes that by creating handmade objects, she can bring art into people’s daily lives and inspire them to think more deeply about the objects they use.
Nicole’s studio is powered by solar energy and rainwater, making it an environmentally sustainable workspace. She utilizes solar panels to generate electricity and rainwater harvesting systems to collect and store rainwater for use in the studio. This not only reduces the studio’s carbon footprint, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainable living and the impact of human consumption on the environment. This approach is coherent with her art works and message about the environment and sustainability.
